Understanding Sickle Cell Disease

What is Sickle Cell Disease?
Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) is a group of inherited blood disorders that change the shape and function of red blood cells.
Instead of being round and flexible, these cells become crescent-shaped, making it harder for them to move through blood vessels and deliver oxygen throughout the body.
This can lead to pain, complications, and long-term health challenges.
